Daimoflex Conveyor belting

The Diamoflex conveyor belt is a belt is belt designed in accordance with a modern concept; this means a minimum number of plies combined with a high splice strength and excellent mechanical characteristics.

Regardless of the tensile strength its carcass consists of three EP fabric plies with an extra thick interplay skim of high quality rubber compound.

Application areas
For medium duty up to the heaviest of service including coarse material hading and high impact conditions in the steel industry, coal mines, cokes works, ore transport, stone quarrying etc.

Belt widths
Diamoflex belts are available in standardized widths up to and including 1200 mm. Other widths are available on application.

Carcass
The carcass consists of three plies in wholly synthetic Polyester-Nylon (EP) fabric. EP-fabric is impervious to moisture, has a low elongation and a high tensile strength.

The plies are bonded to extra thick interplay layers of tough, resilient rubber to afford maximum resistance to impact.

* = Elongation at T1 is the Elongation that would occur if a stress equivalent to 10% of the specified nominal tensile strength were to be applied.

Cover quality
Diamoflex belting can be supplied in all DIAMOND
cover qualities :
Normal quality       DA, DS, DE   Abrasion resistant
Special quality        HA, HS, HE  Heat resistant
Special quality        OR1, OR2    Oil resistant

Pulley diameters
The pulley diameters depend on the thickness of the carcass and the tensile strength for minimum pulley.

To determine the total belt thickness add the sum of the cover thickness to the carcass thickness.

To calculate the belt weight pre m2 multiply the sum of the cover thickness by 1.15 and add to the carcass weight (except for fire retardant qualities for which other weights apply)

Impact resistance
One of the main advantages of the Diamoflex conveyor belt is the socalled “sandwich”-construction of the carcass. Thanks to this the energy absorption ablility and the impact resistance is greater than that of conventional four-of five belts of the same tensile strength.

This characteristic is especially shown to advantage at the loading point when coarse material impacts the belt form excessive heights.

In order to illustrate the high impact resistance a test method has been developed, which reproduces service conditions fairly exactly, and which allows a comparison to be made with multiply conveyor belting of the same strength.

Test procedure 

A 10 kg weight falls from height of 2.5 m onto a pre-stretched length of belting. The belting is supported by an idler on the spot where the where the weight drops onto the belt. After each blow the remaining tensile strength in the belt id measured and stated as a percentage of the original tensile strength.

This result shows clearly that the impact resistance of a Diamoflex belt is considerably higher than that of a four-or five ply belt of equivalent tensile strength. This can be explained by the fact that the thickness innerlayer acts as a shook absorber.
